Aiming to boost its sales, Kia India plans to expand its product portfolio with multiple new models with a major focus on the SUV segment. The South Korean automaker has also revealed its intention to enter the hybrid vehicle market with a 7-seater SUV and new-gen Seltos, scheduled for launch in 2026 and 2027, respectively. While the company recently introduced the Carens Clavis EV, it will also bring in the Kia Syros EV sometime in 2026. Let’s take a quick look at the key details of these two upcoming Kia SUVs.
Kia 7-Seater Hybrid SUV
The South Korean automaker might introduce a new three-row hybrid SUV in 2026. Codenamed MQ4i, this new SUV will be based on the globally sold Kia Sorento, sharing its platform and features. However, its design and styling will be different from its donor sibling. Kia is likely to electrify its 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine for the new 7-seater SUV.
Considering Sorento’s dimensions, the Kia MQ4i is expected to measure around 4.8 metres in length and have a wheelbase of nearly 2,800mm. Kia’s Anantapur manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh will serve as production hub for the new 7-seater hybrid SUV.
Kia Syros EV
The Kia Syros will go electric in 2026 to challenge the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Nexon EV. As of now, there is no information on its powertrain specifications. However, the Syros EV is expected to borrow the 42kWh and 49kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery packs from the Hyundai Inster EV. Hyundai is also planning to launch the Inster EV in India next year.
The Kia Syros EV might receive a few cosmetic changes, highlighting its EV nature. The SUV might get aero-optimized alloy wheels and EV badges. Inside, the electric version is likely to feature different seat upholstery and trim along with dedicated EV software for the infotainment displays.
