Aiming to strengthen its SUV game like never before, Maruti Suzuki has announced over half a dozen UVs (utility vehicles), slated to launch over the next three years. These models will cover a wide price range from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, and come with multiple powertrains including petrol, hybrid, CNG and electric.
This year, the Indo-Japanese automaker will launch the Escudo midsize SUV, which will be followed by the e Vitara electric SUV. Maruti Suzuki’s in-housed developed strong hybrid powertrain (HEV) will debut with the Fronx in 2026. The new-gen Maruti Baleno, slated to launch next year, will also benefit from this hybrid technology. According to media reports, the carmaker is also preparing a subcompact SUV (codenamed YDB), based on the Japan-specs Suzuki Spacia.
Let’s take a quick look at the key details of these upcoming Maruti SUVs and MPV, arriving by 2026.

Maruti Fronx Hybrid | Early 2026 |
New-Gen Maruti Baleno | Mid to Late 2026 |

Maruti Escudo
The Maruti Escudo will be the new flagship SUV under the Arena lineup. It will be positioned above the Brezza and below the Grand Vitara in the company’s product lineup. Media reports suggest that it will be the first Maruti Suzuki in India to feature Level-2 ADAS suite and Dolby Atmos tech. This midsize SUV will also offer a 4WD drivetrain system and a powered tailgate. The Escudo is expected to share the 103bhp, 1.5L petrol mild hybrid and 115bhp, 1.5L strong hybrid powertrains with the Grand Vitara.
Maruti e Vitara
Originally planned to launch in March 2025, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara electric SUV has been delayed due to battery supply and software issues. It is now expected to hit showrooms towards the end of this year. Based on a skateboard platform, the Maruti e Vitara will come with 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs, sourced from BYD. Both batteries will be paired with front axle mounted motors, generating power worth 143bhp and 173bhp, respectively. Maruti has confirmed an MIDC-rated range of over 500km for this EV.
Maruti Fronx Hybrid
The Maruti Fronx will be the first model to feature the brand’s newly-developed series hybrid system that’s said to be more cost effective than Toyota’s hybrid powertrain. It will be offered with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, paired with an electric motor. As per media reports, the new Maruti Fronx hybrid will be capable of delivering a fuel efficiency of over 35kmpl. No cosmetic changes are expected, save for the ‘Hybrid’ badges.
New-Gen Maruti Baleno
The next-gen Maruti Baleno is likely to witness significant design changes and feature upgrades along with a new strong hybrid powertrain. The hatchback will share the same 1.2L petrol-hybrid setup debuting on the Fronx. While the hybrid powertrain will be offered exclusively on the higher trims, the lower and mid variants are expected to feature the existing 1.2L K12N engine that’s good for 88.5bhp and 113Nm of torque.
Maruti Mini MPV
Next on the list of the upcoming Maruti SUVs and MPV is a subcompact 7-seater family car, which will be positioned against the Renault Triber. It will be based on the Suzuki Spacia, featuring an upright and boxy stance similar to its Japanese counterpart. However, the India-spec version might miss out on the sliding doors and some features including ADAS. This new Maruti MPV could be offered with a 1.2L Z-Series petrol engine or the brand’s new strong hybrid tech. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are likely to be offered.
