
The premium growth was ₹31,822 crore in July 2024, according to the data collated by Life Insurance Council. While the forecast for the industry growth for the full year is 10-12%, experts are waiting to see if this growth can sustain for coming months.
The life insurance industry saw individual single premiums growing by 19.44% on a year-on-yearbasis to close at ₹5,506.81 crore for July 2025, while year to date (YTD)growth stood at 14.09%. Individual non-single premiums came rose 9.6% to ₹10,051.05 crore in July 2025, with YTD collections rising 6.02% from the corresponding period last year.
Life insurers added more than 3,47,561 individual life insurance agents, with an overall 2.27% growth in cumulative agent count. During April-July period, premium went up 9% to ₹1.32 lakh crore. Private insurers’ new business premium during April-July rose 22% to ₹16,340 crore.
